BEST FINE ART
ARCHIVE 1980'S-1990'S
From 1978-1983 I was co-owner of a postcard store/gallery in San Francisco called Postcard Palace. We had 1000's of postcards, many of them artist-made little pieces of art and had annual Mail Art shows that we were widely known for. We also had a color xerox machine, which was the tool of the day for artwork, punk rock flyers, and t-shirts.
I figured out a way to make color xerox big by printing a photo on acetate, cutting it up into 35mm slide size & blowing up each piece, printing it on transfer paper, transferring it to large rag paper & painting over it.
When I moved to Los Angeles in 1983, I got a gallery show right away with this work, which was mostly of my friends. That led to years of portrait commissions & commercial work. These are just a sampling of that work.
